Ten-Part Series to Premiere Monday, July 28 and Run Each Consecutive Weeknight for Two Weeks
July 7, 2008, New York - What does it take to train all your young life and succeed at the highest levels in athletics? MOJO HD and USA TODAY Live partner to present A Shot at Glory, introducing eleven of the United States’ most promising athletes with hopes to excel this summer in Beijing. The ten-part, all high-definition series delves into the mindset and motivation of the competitors as they discuss their intense training schedules and nutrition programs, their mentors and role models, their career-making competitions and the personal stories behind each hard-fought climb to the upper echelons of sport. A Shot at Glory premieres nationally on MOJO HD starting Monday, July 28 at 9:00pm, ET/PT and airs every weekday evening through Friday, August 8 at 9:00pm, ET/PT.
New Scheduling Information: MOJO HD will present a marathon of all five of the previous week’s five episodes as follows: Saturday, Aug. 2, starting 5:00pm, ET/2:00pm, PT and Saturday Aug. 9, starting 5:00pm, ET/2:00pm, PT. Each episode runs one-half hour. Then, starting Sunday Aug 3 at 9:00pm, one episode will be replayed weekly.
Those profiled include wrestling’s Daniel Cormier, BMX biker Donny Robinson, track and field’s Tyson Gay and Wallace Spearmon Jr., boxing’s Gary Russell, Jr., swimming’s Kate Ziegler, triathlon’s Laura Bennett, canoe/kayak’s Brett Heyl, gymnastics’ Samantha Peszek and beach volleyball’s Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs (one episode). A Shot at Glory also features candid interviews with high-profile medal winners about their life experiences and what it truly requires to be the best in their discipline, including boxing’s Sugar Ray Leonard; track’s Jackie Joyner-Kersee; gymnastics’ Mary Lou Retton; beach volleyball’s Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor; BMX’s Mike King; kayaking’s Scott Schipley; swimming’s Amy Van Dyken; triathlon’s Susan Williams and wrestling’s John Smith. Additionally, experts in each sport will be featured, detailing the psychological and body strength needed to compete; how to overcome injuries and setbacks and how these new competitors compare with previous champions.
