More Wales Facts...- The term “Pub” came from the Public Houses where town people would socialize and resolve disputes.
- It is tradition in Wales to keep a “Devil’s Cup” at a pub. By keeping a cup of beer available for the devil in the room you keep the devil at bay.
- Brains Brewery is home to over 10,000 barrels of ale.
- Mumbles Mile is a famous mile long pub crawl in a small town in Wales called Mumbles. The town derives its name from the French word “mamelles”, meaning “breasts”. Mamelles originally referred only to the two islets at the end of the promontory, but nowadays it applies to the whole village.
- “Real ale” is not fermented or pasteurized and additives are not used. It ferments in its serving cask and is the closest thing you can get to organic beer.
- Over 8,000 chapels were built in Wales during the 1800’s.
