Need for Speed
- A “Sleeper” is a car that isn’t ostentatious. It appears to be the average, run of the mill car but under the hood is an engine packing major power and torque. It is the vehicle least expected to be a “speed demon.”
- More Corollas have been sold worldwide than any other vehicle.
- Many manufacturers and car dealers now make, sell, and distribute “factory sleepers” for consumers.
- Police monitor traffic using primarily two different devices; laser and radar.
- Radar technology has been around longer than the laser. It is used by 80% of the police population. It works by throwing out a wide beam. This technology isn’t as accurate though. In heavy traffic conditions it can be very difficult to distinguish which cars are moving at which speeds.
- Lasers send out a single beam about 12 -18 inches. Lasers can target specific vehicles.
