"The Life Pursuit" is the latest offering from the band whose 2003 album "Dear Catastrophe Waitress" left many wanting. Full of the carefully crafted melodies and intelligent musings on modern life that have become the trademark of Scotland's finest, the new album fuses 60's pop, on the hugely successful single "The blues are still blue", with 70's glam rock, on tracks like "Sukie In The Graveyard", gaining deserved critical acclaim. While "Mornington Crescent" and "Dress Up in You" are notably cooler exceptions, the fantastically up-beat rhythms of the rest of the album display a new found confidence and commercial sensibility, assuring a widely acclaimed Brit-hit (and not only in the Middle England-bit).
