Danger! Or as they say in Swahili, Hatari! A trip to Kenya includes beautiful safaris and risk of drought, starvation, and predator attacks. Here are some tips from this week’s Kenya episode…
Take the scenic route. Actually, you have no choice. If you’re traveling between Nairobi and Massai Mara by road, add a few hours to your expected arrival time because the road is not maintained.
Observe local curfew and local custom. The local pack of lions likes to take their evening strolls through the Sekenani Camp grounds, so stay in your tent after dark. If you should run into a lion, slowly walk backwards to your tent, and never, ever turn your back on a lion. It’s rude. And dangerous.
Hold on tight. The safari hot air balloon soars at over 1,000 feet, and coming back down can be extremely bumpy.
